Portfolio Highlights

Bryar & Wollner LLC
Full-Service Digital Rebrand, Strategy & Management

In 2 months, I provided this boutique contract negotiations firm with a  complete rebuild of digital presence and strategy. I worked with the principles, Marcel Bryar and George Wollner, to strategically rebrand their company name, logo, website and publication assets. For their six months of transition into their new brand, I provided full-service support to the new firm including social media and email marketing management, web mail, marketing tool integration, content generation, and digital tool and strategy training. Bryar & Wollner now has over 2,000 email subscribers and regularly contributes to their own cio.com column about vendor negotiation and management.

Lavagna Restaurant
Mobile-Optimized Website Redesign

Lavagna, an Italian restaurant in DC's Barracks Row neighborhood, already worked hard to build a strong reputation in the District. The eatery has been voted best Italian in DC by Washington City Paper readers several years in a row now and their brunch is a favorite on the widely-read Bitches Who Brunch blog. My job was to make sure that their web presence accurately reflected Lavagna's quality and charm so that their customer base continues to grow within the ever-changing DC dining & leisure market. Since most diners visit restaurant web addresses via a mobile device now, it was most important that mobile web visitors have a user friendly experience and have an easy time booking reservations on the go. In addition to making Lavangadc.com fully responsive and one-click integrated with email, phone, and OpenTable services, we were also able to incorporate images taken in-house that accurately reflect Lavagna's home-away-from-home, authentic & welcoming atmosphere and showcase Lavagna's dedication to using ethically responsible ingredients and food sources.

Recommendations

MarceL Bryar, CEO, BRYAR & Wollner LLC:

"Laura is a great partner.  She designed a strong marketing strategy for my company, B&W, and she implemented many parts of that strategy, including the development of our Web site, templates for our newsletters and marketing materials.  More important, she is pro-active.  She's always thinking about what needs to be done next, offering recommendations and making sure we don't let anything fall through the cracks.  We feel lucky we get to work with Laura."

August 2015, Marcel is the CEO of Bryar & Wollner LLP

Mike Tran, Marketing Executive:

"I had the opportunity to work with Laura on multiple Social Media marketing campaigns. She is very reliable, accountable, and professional. I really appreciate her work ethics, go-getter mentality and the contributions she provided. I highly recommend her and happy to speak more about her work if needed."

November 2014, Michael is the CEO at Tran & Partners Inc and Marketing Director at Lunex Telecom

Vivian Giang, Journalist:

"Laura is one of those sharp, creative people you work with who never stops churning. She's not afraid to tackle tasks she's unfamiliar with and take feedback very well. She's smart, driven and talented — essential to any hire. She also cares deeply about her work."

April 2014, Vivian managed Laura at PolicyMic

Trevor EiSchenSocial Media Editor, POLITICO:

"Laura has an exceptional work ethic, forward-thinking perspective and a knack for keeping office morale at its highest no matter the situation. In addition to her strong abilities in social media, marketing, communications and administration, her reliability as a supervisor and teammate makes her stand out among her peers. I really enjoyed working with Laura at the Bridging Nations Foundation, and the quality of my work and the work of others was greatly enhanced by her drive."

December 2014, Trevor worked directly with Laura at Bridging Nations Foundation

Rocko Bund, LEGAL Professional at Banner & Witcoff, Ltd.:

"I was fortunate to have Laura as my Program Coordinator while interning at the Bridging Nations Foundation. She is a natural leader and someone who is respected by her workers. She leads by example and has a very welcoming personality. Laura is constantly on the move delegating tasks, coordinating, or just being a resource. Laura is an asset and I highly recommend her."

July 2013, Rocko reported to Laura at Bridging Nations Foundation

Robert Burns, II, Professional Photographer

"Laura is a natural leader with a big personality, and limitless career potential. She’s one of the most professional young women I know. When I speak to her, I get the feeling that she’d see success in any field of her choosing, but I happen to know she’s got a wealth of skills in the public relations, marketing/advertising, event planning and social media venues. I truly have nothing but positive things to say about her.

When Laura, at a mutual friend’s recommendation, invited me to speak at the UGA Leadership Resource Team’s annual “Georgia Collegiate Leadership Conference” (GCLC) in 2010, I was impressed by her knowledge and command of the several aforementioned fields -- the next year, I returned to speak again, at her invitation. Two years in a row, I realize in retrospect, I watched Laura exemplify the very essence of the GCLC’s entire purpose: to develop and highlight young student leaders through action.

She spent months planning the conference, inviting key student/alum speakers, and rallying her peers to action. As a large-scale event planner myself, I know firsthand that it’s no easy task to pull this off, year-in, year-out – but Laura makes it look easy. Aside from event planning, she’s taken the initiative to learn the theory and application of PR/ new media/ advertising tools – one example of this: the second time I spoke at the GCLC, I noticed that the conference utilized “live tweeting” on a scale I’d never witnessed in person.

Where others are content to sit back and let others lead, Laura demonstrates drive, initiative, experience and poise– and the results speak for themselves. There’s a reason that I’m able to say that the GCLC is not only one of the most well-planned student conferences I’ve ever attended (out of dozens), but also one that consistently improves each year – that reason is Laura.

Laura Franta-Abdalla comes highly recommended."

June 2012, Robert was with another company when working with Laura at University of Georgia Leadership Resource Team

Jeff Alexander, HIGHER EDUCATION PROFESSIONAL

"I consider advising Laura to be an incredible opportunity for me to witness one of the most efficient and imaginative student members I have encountered. She is constantly focusing on how she can improve upon the status quo. I was lucky enough to serve as an adviser to Laura and she never failed to impress me with her ability to get things done and inspire others to strive for more. It is my belief that Laura can accomplish anything that she sets her mind to. I would highly recommend Laura for any position and believe in her ability to accomplish any task."

April 2012, Jeff worked directly with Laura at University of Georgia Leadership Resource Team
